   The Papers of Cordell Hull

The Papers of Cordell Hull

is a scholarly editing project committed to collecting and publishing the documentary record of the longest serving Secretary of State in American history. The project is hosted by the Howard H. Baker, Jr. Center for Public Policy at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Launching in early 2006, the project is engaged in a worldwide search for Hull documents. Those items include: correspondence, official State department documents, speeches, drafts, and memoranda.

The project will produce authoritative print volumes. Once completed, the collection will serve as the centerpiece of the Baker Center’s Modern Political Archives. This project will make Hull’s papers available to the public in a conveniently accessible modern format. Each volume will selectively contain approximately four hundred and fifty reprinted documents in a readable, standardized form with minimal editorial interpretation.
